The pre-transition jam in B-major that precedes the main 11/4 jam in The
Eleven is easily the longest I've heard.

Listening to the Eleven here reminds me of why I first fell in love with the Dead.

Subject: Awesome!
Pretty much a textbook '69 show.

Subject: my other review is WAY off
OK this is one of those shows that for me took some time to recognize its brilliance. i really downplayed this show in my previous review on the other page. even if it doesn't quite approach the greatness of the 2/28-3/2 Filmore west run, this show is pretty transcendent in its own right.

Garcia especially is in *TOP* form here - The Eleven easily rivals the greatest versions like 10/12/68 and 2/28/69 and has become a favorite of mine.

another favorite is the Alligator Jam, which while short (maybe a reason i didn't give it its due before?) is chock full of wondrous, fast paced creativity (TONS of excellent phrases and riffs are thrown around like a nerf football) and huge aggressiveness.

add in a nasty, nasty version of Caution and you'd be a fool to overlook this gem, this is one of the best '69 has to offer!
